I have neen fascinated with cryptids since I was a young child, and Mothman, while frightening to me, was also very intriguing. Mothman has been periodically spotted in Illinois - both Chicago and Rockford.  Many have speculated that the Illinois sightings may have, in fact, been sandhill cranes at night. I always thought that explanation was a bit weak until 2024 when I saw one in the wild up close. They're god damn giant! They definitely look like dinosaurs and they have absolutely massive wingspans. Their eyes glow red at night, so out of the fog on a particularly spooky night? I can see how someone could be convinced they were looking at a cryptid. 

Anyway, Mothman has been sighted in and near Chicago a few times. I always thought maybe he was rolling through Chicago looking for a good meal on the go. Maybe he just needed a little bit of that dog in him...
