I've always loved bats. I grew up in a rural part of Washington State, and spent many summer twilights watching the plentiful bats eat a multitude of flying insects that swarmed the deep purple-orange sky. It took me quite some time to see my first bat after moving to Elgin, Illinois - many years, in fact. It was a big brown bat. I learned this when I said "Wow that was a big brown bat", went inside and googled "Northern Illinois large brown bat" and learned it was the Northern Illinois Big Brown Bat (Eptesicus fuscus). I ended up down a rabbit hole about white nose fungus, and its terrible destruction of the bat population in my area.
I intend to use Nibbles to raise money for bat conservation. I'm currently looking at a few different options and need to contact organizations in the area to talk about them. If you know anyone in, or are part of a bat conservation organization yourself, please reach out to me at:
