Rubber Clutches Are Pretty Dang Secure

Machine Cloud Creative enamel pins all come with rubber clutches, aka "backs/backers". Rubber clutches just don't get respect in some circles of pin collecting. For some, it's either "deluxe" style (also known as hat style) locking pin backs or nothing. I've used rubber, deluxe, butterfly, and hex key style locking backs myself, and I've been most satisfied with rubber clutches.

Don't get me wrong - it is always wise to use locking clutches in circumstances where unscrupulous people might have access to your pins while your caught unaware. I'm using a deluxe style locking back every time in those circumstances. But when it comes to concerns about rubber clutches coming loose or falling off, it hasn't been a problem for me since really learning how to properly attach them. I work an active job in an environment where a lanyard is required, and my rubber clutch pins do not come off regardless of constant handling and movement.

When applying a rubber backer to a post, it is best that you forcefully and firmly apply pressure while twisting the clutch until you feel significant friction between the clutch and the post. After that, simply check the clutch is in place by pushing the clutch into the enamel pin post once more.

I have strong guitar-playing hands, and with this method even I have trouble removing pins from articles where I've used rubber clutches. I have no concerns about anyone snatching a pin off of my persons, much less a pin back falling off from normal use. All Machine Cloud Creative enamel pins come with at least two posts, so when using this method your enamel pins from here should be very tightly secured to whatever you choose to attach it to.

Depending on time and use, it is possible that rubber clutches will eventually become loose/brittle and need replacement. Should that ever be the case, there are an assortment of online sources by which a person can purchase any type of clutch they wish in bulk amounts. As for me and mine, I will continue using mostly rubber clutches in my day-to-day use as they make me the happiest and are the most comfortable option available to me.
