My wife and I adopted Mellie from Panda Paws in 2013. Mellie was part of a rescued litter known as The Blueberry Muffins. She has been a source of great joy for anyone who has met her. She has a truly huge personality, has been a great breed ambassador, and has taught us a LOT along the way. In June of 2020 Mellie was diagnosed with mast cell cancer. She has been on chemotherapy since July and is fighting hard but maintaining her health in the fight against cancer.
Several people reached out wanting to help. Treating cancer is expensive, but I wanted to use the resources I had available to try to give back to those who want to help us with this situation. So when my friend and fantastic artist, Mike Swanson, had a short bit of free time we talked about a commission and the result is these open edition Mellie pins. Mike’s artistic style is typically a blend of modern urban and sacred geometric art, but he is also an A-grade cartoonist. I could not be happier with how his design both captures Mellie’s essence and enhances all her characteristics.
